Welcome to the first post on Med Ed Connect, a new blog aimed at connecting individuals involved in medical education. Increasingly web tools like blogs and Twitter are connecting people working in higher education and individuals are developing personalised online networks. These networks are about sharing, learning and helping each other. The technology is helping us to become networked teachers, as Alec Couros has illustrated in the diagram below. We can now connect not just with our local colleagues but other medical and health professions educators from around the world.
We hope that Med Ed Connect will become a place for you to connect and get involved in online conversations about medical education. Feel free to comment on the posts here and to give us suggestions for what you’d like to see here. Leave a comment too if you’d like to contribute and share something about what you’re doing in your medical school or if you want to ask what other people are doing in relation to teaching in specific areas.
